Jonah's cabman and his horse are immersed in longing. Finally, they come across a military man looking for a cabman. The old man is trying to share his sadness with him - his son has died, but the military does not care. Upon reaching the place, he leaves the cab.
The coachman with his horse is waiting for new passengers. Three people appear in two hours. Despite the low price, Jonah is taken to bring them. Young people make noise, scold the coachman and the horse, but the old man does not notice this. He is trying to tell customers about his grief, but they are also not interested in the troubles of the old man. Like the first passenger, they leave the cab, leaving him alone with longing.
Jonah tries to open his soul to a janitor who does not care about the death of Jonah's son - he drives away the old man. The coachman is trying to warm himself at home by the stove. The old man seeks sympathy from others, but is faced with indifference. Jonah goes to his horse and, not noticing it himself, tells everything to her.
