: Village children kill marten children, and she begins to take revenge until she dies from a hunter's gun.
A small village of three houses, Zuyat, stands between two lakes. Behind the village there is a steep slope, overgrown with a dense forest of spruce and fir mixed with elderberry and raspberry. Here, without fear of people, various animals and birds live. The marten with a white breast settles in the woodland. A few years later, Belogrudka gives birth to a baby. A diligent and cautious mother, the marten protects children, warms with her body and catches game for them.
Once the Belogrudok is tracked down by village boys. She leads them around the forest for a long time, and, considering that the people have left, goes hunting. Little game in the vicinity, and Belogrudka goes to a large swamp behind the lake. Returning with prey, the marten discovers that the children disappeared from the hollow. On a tree she finds the smell of people. The trail leads her to the house where the boys brought a cannon.
For several days Belogrudka watches the house, but cannot enter - an evil dog sits on a chain at the booth. Finally, she lands on the hayloft and sees a boy torturing her children and feeding them raw meat. Soon, one little kitten dies, and the boy throws his dog.
On the same night, poultry began to die in Zuyat. Soon, the dog who ate the little kuny also died. The white-breasted woman teased him, the dog chased after her, hung on the fence and choked. The marten was so furious that it began to appear in the village and in the afternoon, killing the whole bird. They tried to shoot her, but only slightly injured.
Licking the wounds, Belogrudka returned. She did not know that the boy had been flogged and ordered to be taken back to the nest, but he was too lazy to climb into the thicket and left the kids in a ravine near the forest, where the fox strangled them. An orphaned Belogrudka begins to strangle a bird not only in Zuyat, but also in a neighboring village.
They caught the marten when it accidentally got into the cellar. The owner of the house, the hunter, understands that the marten robs because it is orphaned, and lets it go. But Belogrudka returns again, begins to rage more than ever, and the hunter has to shoot her.
In both villages Belogrudok is still remembered and children are forbidden to offend animals and birds.
