There are many such examples in the literature.
In overpopulated cities, the poor hate the rich, the rich despise the poor, and hostility is also observed between individual groups and subcultures. The result of all these skirmishes was the general indifference of people to people. For example, in the story "Tosca" Anton Pavlovich Chekhov shows the indifference of the whole city to one person. The cab driver Jonah, who had lost his son, wanted to share his grief with people, but in response he heard only indifferent and empty phrases.
